New Year Eve and Good Bye 2011

This year new year was rather a little special for me.
Celebrated it with my boyfriend's family and his relative at Malacca for 4 days 3 nights.
The second time I visited this place but with a huge intervals of like 5 years.
The only thing that I can remember about Malacca is the red building other than that the rest of the memories seems vague.

Shall split my trips into few posts.
So day one, New year eve.

Had lunch at this chicken rice ball stall, not the usual type of chicken rice in Singapore.
Was quite looking forward to their rice ball because I have never tasted it and the gourmet shows always describe it till mouthwatering.
Of course, it must be accompanied by chicken and some small dishes if not what is chicken rice without chicken?

A very traditional chinese setting with all the 60s-80s black and white photos hang on the red wall, round stools and tables.

Other than the white and roasted chicken, standard side dishes will be roast pork, bean sprouts, oily vegetables, braised eggs, dumpling soup and otah.

To describe the size of the chicken rice ball, I can only think of ping pong ball and I had 2 balls. (Ok, this sounds weird)
Don't really like it.
I still prefer the normal plate of chicken rice that you can see grain by grain.
When I bite it, the texture doesn't seem right.
You can't feel the rice grains because they are all squashed up but the taste is ok.
It tasted just like chicken rice, nothing special but like a bit bland.
Maybe I am not use to chicken rice ball.
The side dishes were quite nice especially the otah.

After lunch, we walked around the place to explore some of the shop houses.
When in to a few of the shop houses and realised their interiors were very interested.
Each shops have their own interior design and so were the staircases inside the shops.

Chinese New Year is very near and some stalls already started selling red packets.

Dessert up next at this double storey building that not only sell drinks and dessert but also souvenirs and local products.

Our stay was at Holiday Inn, nice place with nice scenery.

The last night of 2011 and counting down to 2012.
Was lucky enough to see firework from our hotel room.
Happy New Year Peeps!
